Family History

Father: John W. Wilkinson, born in 1869 at Nottingham and working as an asphalter's labourer. Clara Wilkinson, born 1872 at Nottingham and employed as a hosiery worker. Walter Arthur Wilkinson was their only son, but he had a step- sister, Ethel E. Upton, born in 1892 in Nottingham. The family lived at 38 Thorseby Street, Nottingham before moving to 44 Moreland Street, Meadows, Nottingham.

Military History

Pte. Wilkinson volunteered for service, and following training he arrived in France on 26/06/1915. He served for over three years before being killed in action on 03/10/1918 at the Battle of Ramicourt which followed the crossing of the St. Quentin Canal and forced the Germans back from their fortified positions.
