Military History

Pte. Smith-Clayton joined the Lincolnshire Regiment before being transferred to the 292nd Company, Labour Corps. He was seriously wounded during the continuing British advance, and was sent down the line to hospital at Abbeville, where he died. He was buried at Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension.
