Father: William Henry Proctor, born in 1871 in Nottingham, working as a tailor's presser. Mother: Annie Proctor, born in 1874 at Cheltenham, working as a machinist. Brothers: William Henry, born in 1892, working as a warehouseman, Harry, born in 1900, Frederick, born in 1906, Arthur, born in 1908 and Leonard, born in 1908. Sisters: Elizabeth, born in 1896 and Florence, born in 1903. All the children were born in Nottingham. Charles Ernest Proctor married Lillian Proctor in October 1915. They lived at 31 Bombay Street, Nottingham before moving to 16a Peas Hill Road, Nottingham.

Military History

Pte. Proctor volunteered for service and trained with the Sherwood Foresters, No. 4234, and was drafted to France 04/01/1915. He later joined the Machine Gun Corps, and was involved in fighting during the Battle of Arras. He died of wounds on 24/04/1917 and was buried at Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension.
