Father: Joseph Pearson, born in 1864 at Derby, working as an engineer's labourer. Mother: Sarah Ann Pearson, born 1865 at Derby and running a sweet shop. Brothers: Joseph, born in 1893, working as a brick maker, Albert, born in 1897, working as a printer and Frederick, born in 1902. Sisters: Frances Selina, born in 1906, Elsie, born in 1907 and Mabel, born in 1910. All the children were born in Nottingham. The family lived at 350 Carlton Road, Nottingham. Edward Pearson was married to Annie E. Pearson and they lived at 39 Bombay Street, St. Ann's Well Road, Nottingham.
Pte. Pearson volunteered for service and following training he was drafted to France. He was a member of 'A' Company in 1st Battalion and took part in the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, which began on 10/03/1915. The village was soon captured. The Foresters advanced a 1,000 yards to the north of the village but were held up by machine gun fire. The men held their position throughout the next day, but were subjected to shelling and heavy small arms fire. Though a slight advance was made the battalion soon came to a stop. It was during the fighting on 11/03/1915 that Pte. Pearson was killed in action. He was finally buried at Arras Road Cemetery, Roclincourt.
