Family History

William Marshall was the son of George William and Ann Marshall. The family lived at 15 Fisher Gate, Nottingham.

Military History

Pte. Marshall was called up for service and following training he was drafted to France. The leicestershire Brigade, including the 6th battalion, took over trenches on September 25, 1918 facing Gonnelieu. The Brigade attacked on 29/09/1918 and the Germans quickly retired. Pte. Marshall was mortally wounded in the fighting and was taken to a casualty clearing station near Thilley, where he died. he was buried at Thilley Road Cemetery, Beaulencourt.
