Father: John Flint, born in 1847 at Sutton-in-Ashfield and working as a stationary engine driver. Mother: Priscilla Flint, born in 1857 at melbourne, Derbyshire. Brothers: John W., born in 1877 at Ripley, Derbyshire, William L.S., born in 1889 at Nottingham and Harold, born in 1895 in Nottingham and working as a shop assistant. Sisters: Priscilla, born in 1887 at Nottingham and Caroline,born in 1894 in Nottingham. The family lived at 37 Buckingham Road, Radford, Nottingham. Charles Archibald Flint married Clarice Mabel Flint at the Register Office, Nottingham. They had one child, Glenice Ethel Winifred Flint, born 16/06/1915. The family lived at 51 St. Albans Road, Sherwood Rise, Nottingham before moving to 6 Sherwin Street, Huntingdon Street, Nottingham, and finally to 62 Peveril Street, Nottingham.
Flint was called up for service and attested on 30/10/1916 at Derby. Following training he was drafted to France on 13/01/1917, leaving from Southampton and arriving at Le Havre the following day. On 25/02/1917 he was taken to 23rd Field Ambulance suffering from trench feet. He was passed on to 47th Casualty Clearing Station and then to 14th General Hospital at Wimereux on 27/02/1917. On 06/03/1917 he was taken to England aboard the hospital ship "Cambria." On recovery he was posted to 4th Reserve Battalion, York & Lancaster Regiment on 14/04/1917. He later moved to Slipstone Camp, Mansfield before being posted to 2/4th York & Lancaster on 08/01/1918 as he again embarked for France, this time from Folkestone.He landed in Boulogne and on 11/01/1918 he was posted to 1/5th Battalion. The battalion was caught up in the fighting during the German offensive Georgette and was reported as missing between 11-15/04/1918. His body was never recovered, but his name was commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
