Family History

Thomas William Packwood was born in 1888 at Radcliffe on Trent was the son of Mary Ann Packwood, née Parsons of Cropwell Road, Radcliffe on Trent, and of late Thomas Packwood a groom. His father Thomas was born in 1852 at Swinehead, Huntingdon and died in 1888 aged 35 yrs, his mother Mary Ann Parsons was born in 1851 at Warsop, they were married in 1879, their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield Registration area. They had the following children Helen b1882 Holmespierrepont, Henry b1887 Holmespierrepont and Thomas b1888 at Radcliffe on Trent. In the 1911 census the family are living at Cropwell Road, Radcliffe on Trent and are shown as Mary 60 yrs a widow , she is living with her children, Helen 29 yrs an assistant teacher, Henry 24 yrs a clerk and Thomas 22 yrs a bricklayer.

Military History

Private Thomas William Packwood enlisted at Radcliffe on Trent and served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters. He was killed in action on 1st October 1918 and is buried in Zantvoorde British Cemetery 2.B.17
