Family History

Archie Worthington was born in 1887 at Nottingham and was the son of the late William, a stone sawyer and Mary Ann Worthington née Stubbins of 18 Garnet Street, Nottingham. His father William was born in 1858 at Broughton, Nottinghamshire and he died in 1903 at Nottingham aged 44 yrs and his mother Mary Ann Stubbins was born in 1859 at Birmingham, they were married in 1882 at Nottingham and went on to have 5 children, sadly three were to die in infancy or early childhood, their other surviving son was Harry b1884 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 18 Garnet Street, Nottingham and are shown as Mary Ann Worthington 52 yrs a widow and a lace jenner , she is living with her two sons Harry 27 yrs a platelayer for the Midland Railway Company and Archie 23 yrs a shop assistant.

Military History

Corporal Archie Worthington enlisted at Salisbury whilst residing at Nottingham, he served with the 12th battalion, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry and was killed in action on 3rd November 1916, he is buried at Carnoy Military Cemetery
