William Town

William Town was born in 1894 at Albert Village, Leicestershire and was the son of John William a blacksmith in a pipeworks and Harriett Town née Askew of Woodville. His father John William was born in 1870 at Woodville, Derbyshire and his nother Harriett Askew was born in 1872 at Church Greasley, Derbyshire they were married on 8th August 1892 at St Stephens Church, Woodville, they went on to have the following children, William b1894 Albert Village, Emily b1897 Albert Village and Ethel Ann b1910 Woodville. In the 1911 census the family are living at Glenfield Terrace, Moria Road, Woodville and were shown as John William Town 41 yrs a blacksmith at a pipe works, he is living with his wife Harriett 39 yrs and their children William 17 yrs a pipe works labourer, Emily 14 yrs a scholar and Ethel Ann 1 year of age. William married his wife Adelaide Braisby (born 9th October 1897) in Derby in 1916, they lived at 10 Jackson Terrace Simkin Street Nottingham and later 126 Macklin Street, Derby, they had a son William Francis Town born 6th June 1917. Following his death his widow Adelaide was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 5th November 1917.
