He was the son of George James and Mary Sheard and the brother of Florence, Lizzie, Willie, Harold, Winnie and Thomas Sheard. In 1911 they lived at 14 Ashley Street and later 29 Young Street Blue Bell Hill (both Nottingham).

Military History

Lance Corporal George Sheard, served with the 1/7th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment (Robin Hood Rifles) , he was killed in action 7th December 1917. He is buried in Philosophe British Cemetery Mazingarbe. Grave Reference: III A 47

His father Private James Sheard served with 12th (Pioneer) Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment In memoriam published 7th December 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- SHEARD. – In loving memory of Lance-Cpl. George Sheard, 1/7th Sherwood Foresters, killed in action December 7th, 1917.
