Family History

Harry Radford was born in 1878 at Nottingham, he was the son of Walter Radford a handmade Shetland shawl maker, and Mary Ann Lilley Radford, née Jackson of Park Row, Chilwell, Nottingham. His father Walter was born in 1855 at Hucknall, his mother Mary Ann Lilley Jackson was born in 1856 at Hucknall, they were married on 3rd February 1874, they had 7 children, sadly 2 were to die in infancy or early childhood. Harry married Edith Warsop (born 6th July 1894) in 1915 at Nottingham, they lived at 3 Wigley Terrace, Blue Bell Hill Road. Following his death she was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 6th May 1918.

Military History

Private Harry Radford enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 17th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He died of wounds on 25th October 1917 and is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery Grave Reference: XXII C 10A
