Family History

Daniel Mokes was born in 1887 at Nottingham and was the son of Charlotte Raynor Mokes née Stenson and the late William George Mokes His father George William was born in 1854 at Nottingham, he died in 1897 aged 43 yrs and his mother Charlotte Raynor Stenson was born in 1854 at Carrinton, they were married in 1873 at Nottingham and went on to have the following children, Herbert Henry b1877, Annie Elizabeth b1882, Daniel b1887 and Charlotte b1891, all were born in Nottingham. He married his wife Charlotte Ball (born 12th February 1889) in 1906 at Nottingham, they lived at 33 Walker Street, Sneinton, Nottingham and had two children, Daniel born 10th June 1911 and Thomas Herbert born 17th January 1914. Following his death his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 6 pence a week which commenced on 24th April 1916.

Military History

Private Daniel Mokes, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 12th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he died of wounds at No. 9 Casualty Clearing Station on 29th September 1915. He is buried in Lillers Communal Cemetery.
