Lionel Roy Telford was born in 1893 at Mallow, Ireland and was the son of Henry Reynold Telford a post master and Amy Ursula née Marks His father Henry Reynolds Telford was born in 1865 in Ireland and his mother Amy Ursula Marks was born in 1873 in Ireland, they were married in 1891 at County Cork, Ireland and went on to have the following children, Leonard Roy b1893 Ireland, Annie Lee Gladys b1893 Ireland and Brian Desmond b1899 Yorkshire. The family were living at Grosvenor Terrace York Henry Reynolds is 38 yrs of age and a civil servant in the GPO. By the 1911 census Henry Reynolds Telford 48 yrs and his son Lionel Roy Telford 19 yrs a scholar are both visitors at 61 Granada Road, Southsea the home of Robert Woodhouse 78 yrs (born India) a widow.

Military History

Private Lionel Roy Telford enlisted at Kingsway, London whilst residing at Nottingham, he served in the 7th battalion Royal Fusiliers. He landed in France on 15th November 1915. He died of wounds on 23rd April 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
