Albert Henry Quincey was born in 1899 in Derby and he was the son of Albert John a painting and paper manager and Alice Quincey née Clark of 12 Lorne Grove, Woodborough Road, Nottingham. His father Albert John was born in 1874 in Nottingham and his mother Alice Clark was also born in 1874 in Nottingham, they were married in 1897 in Nottingham and had a further child Alfred Eric born 1904 in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 26 Northville Street, Nottingham and are shown as Albert John 37 yrs a paining and paper manager, he is living with his wife Alice 37 yrs and their 2 children Albert Henry 12 yrs and Alfred Eric 7 yrs , also at the address is Mary Quincey 77 yrs a widow and his mother.
Pte. Albert Henry Quincey, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 2/6th Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 15th February 1918, and was buried at Mory Abbey Military Cemetery,
Death notice published 23rd February 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “QUINCEY. – Killed in action, in February, Albert Henry, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Quincey, 12, Lorne-grove, aged 19. Answered the call, R.I.P.” In memoriam published 15th February 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “QUINCEY. – In loving memory of our dear son, Albert Henry, 2/6 South Staffords, killed in France Feb. 15th, 1918.
