Family History

Harold George Upsall was born in 1889 at Leeds and was the son of Edgar Arthur a chemists assistant and Sarah Ann Upsall née Bough of 81, Julian Rd., Trent Boulevard, Nottingham. His father Edgar Arthur Upsall was born in 1848 at Balderton and his mother Sarah Ann Brough was born in 1846 at Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, they were married on 25th March 1880 at St Margaret's Church, Lynn, Norfolk, they went on to have 4 children, sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhood, their other surviving child was a daughter Frances born in 1881 at Peterborough. In the 1911 census the family are living at 81 Julian Road, West Bridgford and are shown as Edgar 63 yrs a retired chemist assistant, he is living with his wife Sarah 65 yrs and their children Frances 30 yrs a drug packer and Harold 22 yrs a clerk n a lace finishers.

Military History

Private Harold George Upsall served with the 2/4th battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers, he died on 15th April 1920 of disease following his discharge from the Army and is buried in Nottingham Wilford Cemetery.
