His grandfather is Peter Makin 52 yrs a van man in the lace trade and his grandmother is Elizabeth Makin 50 yrs a lace dresser By the 1911 census Harold is still living at 44 Queens Road, Nottingham, he is shown as being 18 yrs single and a provisions packer, he is still living with his grandmother Elizabeth who is now 60 years of age, and a widow , she is a curtain dresser, his mother is not at this address on the night of the census.

Military History

Private Harold Makin, served with the 12th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. He landed in France on 9th September 1915 and was killed in action on 25th September 1915. His name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial panel 20-22.
