Family history

Joseph Henry Sanson was born in 1896 at Bulwell he was the son of Solomon a coal miner and Sarah Jane Sansom née Moult of 99 Bannerman Road Bulwell Nottingham.

His father Soloman was born in 1869 at Tupton, Derbyshire, his mother Sarah Jane Moult was born in 1869 at Nottingham, they were married on 10th October 1887 at St Leodegarius Church, Basford, Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living aat 99 Bannerman Road, Bulwell, Solomon 42 yrs is a coal miner he is living with his wife Sarah Jane 42 yrs and their children, Etel 21 yrs a lace embroiderer, Sarah Jane 18 yrs is a lace embroiderer, Joseph Henry 15 yrs coal miner, Leonard 12 yrs a hairdresser lather boy, George 9 yrs a scholar, Charlotte 3 yrs old, also living with them is Henry Sanson 74 yrs a arm labourer he is listed as a boarder.

Military history

Sapper Joseph Henry Sansom enlisted at Nottingham, whilst residing at Bulwell he served with the 131st Company, Royal Engineers, he died of renal colic on 19th October 1915 at no 5 general hospital, Rouen, France he is buried at St Sever Cemetery, Rouen.
