Family history

Ernest Jepson was born on 18th July 1895 at Basford he was baptised on 7th August 1895 at
St Marks Church, Nottingham, and was the son of Ada Clarke née Jepson of 63 Oxford Street, Bulwell, Nottingham he had an elder sister Maude born 1890, a brother Cecil born 1897, a younger sister Florence born 1899 and a younger brother William born 1900.

In 1906 his mother Ada Jepson married Charles Clarke however their marriage failed and he deserted her by 1907.

In the 1911 census Ernest 15 yrs of age and part time gardener, is a resident at the Gordon Boys Home, West End , Chobham, Wokings Surrey .

Military history

Ernest Jepson enlisted at Derby and served with the 2nd Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment.He landed in France on 11th November 1914. Ernest died of wounds at No. 7 Casualty Clearing Station on 24th September 1915 and is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.
