Family history

Levi Fisher was baptised on 6th January 1891 at Bloxwhich, Staffordshire, he was the son of the late William a coal miner and Emily Fisher née Hathersmith of 41 Key Street, Bulwell.

His father William was born in 1843 at Bloxwhich, he died in 1898 aged 57 yrs, his mother Emily Hathersmith was born in 1854 at Harding, Stafordshire, they were married on 17th August 1873 at St Michaels Church, Pelsall, Staffordshire, they went on to have 8 children, sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family were living at 41 Key Street, Bulwell, his widowed mother Emily 57 yrs is living with her children, Levi 20 yrs a colliery banksman, Lizzie 17 yrs working at home, Charles 13 yrs a potters wedger and Joseph 27 yrs a coal miner hewer.

Levi married Ethel Wilkinson (born 30th November 1892 ) on th September 1913 at Bulwell parish church, they lived at 18 Key Street, Bulell, they had two children, William Thomas born 18th January 1914 and Levi 17th October 1916.

Commencing 12th February 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 6 pence a week

Military history

Private Levi Fisher enlisted at Hucknall he served with the 1st battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 24th July 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval memorial.
