Military history

3 April 1943 Lancaster ED542 106 Sqn Take off RAF Syerston 19.15 on a mission to Essen, intercepted at 23.00 at 3000m , N of Gelsenkirchen and shot down by a night fighter piloted by Lt August Geiger 7/NJG1 & Uffz Dieter Koch ( Both KIA 30/9/1943 ) crashing near Brünen, Wesel, killing all the crew. The rear turret including gunner was shot off 4 miles north of Duisburg on the run in to Essen by Flak.
