Walter Talbot attended Alfreton Road School, Nottingham and captained the team that won the football shield for three years in succession. Between 3/5/27 and 28/7/27, he finished his education at Grantham King's school. For eight years before the war, was on the staff of J. Lyons and Co, Ltd. before enlisting.

Family history

He was the son of Frederick William and Ada Helen Talbot, of Sherwood, Nottingham. He left a widow with whom he had lived at 119, Holme Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham. His widowed mother resided at 36, Gregory Boulevard, Nottingham. (Grantham Journal, 29 August 1941, p4)
