He was the son of Frank and Maude Hankin and brother of Bernard Hankin of 63, Gamble Street, Radford, Nottingham. He was the stepson of Mrs MM Hankin of Nottingham.

Military history

He was a wireless operator killed aboard Wellington X LN293 during a training flight. No survivors. Fatalities: Hankin + Alwyn Blewett, David Douglas Evans, John Reginald Harvey and Frank Samuel Martin.
