Family history

In 1939 Eric was living with his parents at 119 Berry Hill Lane, Mansfield and he was training to be an architect.
His father was the chief clerk to Mansfield Corporation's electricty department. Sometime between September 1939 and Eric's death they moved to Blackpool as on CWGC they are shown as being "of Blackpool"
Eric appears to have been an only child.

Flew from East Wretham, Norfolk on a 417 aircraft raid over Hamburg, 10 losses.
Clear conditions but Pathfinders appear to have misread H2S indications and confused some sandbanks in the Elbe estuary has being Hamburg docks. As a consequence the majority of the bombing took place on the small town of Wedel, where some surprisingly important targets were hit.

70% of the town's housing was damaged or destroyed.
