Military history

NOTTINGHAM CREMATORIUM Panel 5.

He was found dead on the railway, apparently having fallen from the Paddington to Didcot train whilst returning from leave. The inquest, reported in the Nottingham Evening Post on January 19th, heard that there was no question of suicide owing to his happy state of affairs, and that Shepherd may have fallen from an incorrectly closed door which could have opened of its own accord. His body was found between Pangbourne and Purley on January 1st. An open verdict was recorded by the Coroner.
