18/19 June 1941 Wellington R1696 305 Sqn. Take off RAF Syerston on a mission to Bremen.
Intercepted shot down by night fighter piloted by Oblt Egmont Prinz zur Lippe Weissendfeld NJG1 piloting a Bf110 D-0 G9+EM with gunner Uffz Josef Rennette. R1696 crashed 00.58 in the Polder Het Grootslag at Hoogkarspel, South West of Eikuizen, Netherlands. The bomb load exploded on impact damaging 25 houses.

Weeks later during the salvage of the wreck his burned body was found in the wreckage. He was buried in Lutjebroek. In 1967 he was exhumed and reburied on the Polish War Cemetery Ettensebaan in Breda.
