Known as George Ernest on official records, but on the memorial he is listed as E. G. Reddish.
Son of Ernest and Ethel Reddish of 49 East Lane, Edwinstowe.
Siblings, Eva, Arthur, Grace and Edna.
Married Ivy Fisher of 15 Sherwood Road, Worksop in 1939. Ivy was also a school teacher.

Military history

613 squadron was based at RAF Lasham Hampshire. Flying Mosquitos to counter air incursions by German aircraft. Shot down over St Dizier, France.

Flew from RAF Lasham Hants. This airfield was only built in 1942 and 613 sqdn (City of Manchester) moved there on 15th October 1943. They flew Mosquitos on night intrusion sorties but also took part in precision day time raids over occupied Europe.
George Ernest was the navigator and Paul Twiss was the pilot, they both were killed in the crash and are buried in the same plot at Choloy War Cemetery, plot 2A. C.9-10.
They were on a sortie to St Dizier.

News has been received that Flt Sgt George Reddish, son of Mr & Mrs E Reddish of Edwinstowe is missing from operations over enemy territory. Flt Sgt Reddish belongs to the Tactical Air Force and had recently been operating over Germany.
He was educated at Brunts school and at the Univesity of Nottingham.
