2/3 May 1941 Wellington R1214 305 Sqn. Take off 21.40 RAF Syerston to bomb Emden. Last heard W/T 02.32 picked up by RAF Sealand, reporting aircraft hit and going down. Intercepted and shot down by Lt Reinhold Knacke NJG1 in a Bf110. Aircraft crashed Budel, 12 miles South East of Eindhoven. Ground haze spoilt bombing, 23 aircraft on raid R1214 the only loss.
