Educated at Brunt School and Leeds University were he was training to be a teacher. He enlisted straight from Leeds University in 1940.
His father Ralph snr, was the church warden at St Mary's Church Edwinstowe and Raloh jnr was a member of the choir and a crucifer (cross-bearer, carrying the processional cross at services).
Interested in cricket and football.

Family history

The only son of Ralph and Effie Richardson of 2 First Avenue, Edwinstowe.
He had at least one sister, Gwendoline born in 1920.

Pilot
Flew from Kabril, Egypt to bomb the landing grounds at Berka, Libya. Lost without a trace.

News has been received by Mr & Mrs R Richardson of 2 First Avenue, Edwinstowe that their only son, Sgt Pilot Ralph Handel Richardson is reported missing. Sgt Richardeson who is 23 years of age and a native of Clowne Derbys. He received his early education at Edwinstowe Council School and later he went to Brunts School and Leeds University.
From college he joined the RAF in September 1940 and won his wings the following July. He has been on service overseas for some 6 months.
Sgt Richardson had been a server at the parish church for ten years. He was keenly interested in all forms of sport, especially cricket and football.
