Florence died in 1942 and John snr in 1943.
He married Gwendoline Bentley of Doncaster. They married in late 1943 so married for less than 6 months. Gwendoline married Donald Worthington in 1947.

Working as part of S.O.E (Special Operations Executive) dropping off operatives and/or supplies.
They flew from RAF Lakenheath and they crashed at Vergt, 13 miles south of Perigueux, with the loss of the full crew.
