Mansfield Chronicle Advertiser: 15/6/1944: Warsop Man Missing.
Mr & Mrs Polkey of Forest Road, Warsop have received news that their son, Warrant Officer Geoffrey Polkey is missing. He was on operations when brought down by enemy fire and crashed. A letter from his Squadron Leader says
"he was one of the best pilots in the squadron and would be much missed. He hoped news may yet be received of him. He had been very successful and was very happy in his work".
He was educated at Brunts School where he obtained his school certficate. He was popular both with his school mates and the teaching staff. Prior to joining the airforce he was employed at Warsop Main colliery on the clerical staff. Much sympathy is felt for Mr & Mrs Polkey in their anxiety, he was their only son.
