Military history

Stanley was killed during the evacuation of Dunkirk and is remembered on the Dunkirk Memorial.

Mr & Mrs Jones of 73 Lime Crescent, Warsop have received notification from the War Office that their son, Pte Stanley Jones has been killed in action in Belguim. Joined the Army in 1938. Previously employed at Warsop main Colliery and was very popular with his workmates. He belonged to the Motor transport section of the Sherwood Foresters.
