Family history

Son of William and Hannah Moxon of 67 Leeming Lane, Mansfield
In 1932 Frederick married Alice Annie Murden they had 3 children Jocelyn (1934), John (1936) and Frederick (1940). In his will Frederick left Alice £826 4s 9d. Alice remarried in 1950 to Frank Brown.

Military history

The HMS Harvester was a destroyer on convoy escourting duties in the Atlantic. On 3rd March 1943 HMS Harvester rammed U-444 after it had been forced to the surface but in the process she was badly damaged herself. U-444 ended up stuck under the stern for 10 mins.The next day she was torpedoed by U-432 and she broke in two. 9 officers and 136 ratings were lost. The French corvette "Aconit" then rammed and sank U-432 who then picked up Harvester's survivors.
