HMS Drake

Nineteen ships and a shore establishment of the Royal Navy have been named HMS Drake after Sir Francis Drake. The last sea going HMS Drake was torpedoed off Ireland in 1917. Between 1934 and the early 21st Century, HMS Drake referred to naval barracks within HMNB Devonport. Throughout World War Two, sailors undertook training at Drake before being posted to sea.
