Family history

Frank Parks was born in 1896 at West Bridgford, Nottingham, he was the son of Robert Whaley Parks a foreman lamplighter and Mary Elizabeth Parks née Goodacre of Stathern, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

His father Robert Whaley was born in 1855 at Knipton, Leicestershire, his mother Mary Elizabeth Goodacre was born in 1852 at Croxton, they were married in 1878 their marriage was rexorded in the Grantham registration district, they went on to have, 8 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 161 Trent Boulevard, West Bridgford, Nottingham, Robert Whaley 56 yrs is a foreman lamplighter, he is living with his wife Mary Elizabeth 59 yrs and their children, Walter 25 yrs a fish monger, Lucy 17 yrs a blouse maker and Frank 15 yrs a butcher.

Frank later lived at 30 Lamcote Grove, Meadows, Nottingham.

Military history

Private Frank Parks enlisted at Nottingham 11th November 1914 he served with the 7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He went to France 18th August 1915. and died of wounds on 24th June 1916, aged 20.

Buried/Commemorated : Foncquevillers Military Cemetery, France. Plot I, Row F, Grave 2.
