In September 1944, the Grenadier Guards (part of the Guards Armoured Division) fought in the rapid advance through Belgium and took a leading, frontline role in Operation Market Garden. Key actions included the push toward Eindhoven and a daring dash by the 2nd (Armoured) Battalion to capture the vital road bridge over the River Waal at Nijmegen.

Justice lost his life during the final days of Operation Market Garden. By late September 1944, the Grenadier Guards were heavily engaged in defending the narrow Allied advance corridor from fierce German counter-attacks, specifically protecting vital supply routes south of the Nijmegen and Eindhoven areas.
