
George Francis Roach
Known as Frank.
Attended Brunts School and trained to be a teacher, specialising in physical education, at St Peter's College, Saltley, Birmingham. After college he worked as a teacher in the Birmingham area.
Served as a choir boy and server at St Mary of the Purification and St Lawrence's Church, Blidworth. Worked with the Sunday school and other youth organisation. A keen sportsman, gained swimming and athletic colours whilst at college and also a keen musician.

Son of George Turpin Roach and Harriet Elsie Roach, of 3 Kirklington Road, Rainworth.
His sister Marion (1920) served with the A.T.S (Auxiliary Territorial Service) and his brother Thomas (1923) served with the Fleet Air Arm.
George never married but was engaged to Doreen Hill at the time of his death.
Was a member of Birmingham University Officer Training Corps and was made a lieutenant on 27th July 1940

We regret to record the death in Ransome Sanatorium last Saturday of Lieut George Francis Roach (Frank) aged 25, son of Mr G T Roach (superintendent of Rufford Colliery Baths) and Mrs Roach of 3 Kirklington Road, Rainworth. Lieu Roach belonged to the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. He was an Old Brunts School boy. He took up the teaching profession and was trained at Saltley College.
He became a school=master in Birmingham. He was an enthuastic church worker having been a server and choirboy and was connected with the Sunday School and other youth organisations. He was a keen musician and while at college specialised in physical training. At Saltley College he was a sargeant in the Birmingham University Officer's Training Corps and there he won his swimming and athletic colours.
His brother, Thomas Eric, is a Leading Naval Airman with the Fleet Air Arm and his sister, Pte Marion Roach is serving with the A.T.S.
He was engaged to Miss Doreen Hill, daughter of Mr H R Hill cashier at Blidworth Colliery.
The funeral took place at Blidworth Churchyard on Wednesday.
Ransome Sanatorium was a specialist TB hospital situated between Mansfield and Rainworth.
