Family history

Kenneth was the only son of Walter and Elizabeth Oxley Plumtree of Little Biggins Farm, Ordsall Park Drive, Retford. He had two sisters - Marjorie and Carol.

Military history

Killed while on a navigation training exercise flight. Due to poor visibility, the aircraft, Beaufighter T5299, flew into high ground in the area surrounding Westerdale in the North York Moors. His navigator, Sergeant Vivian Robin Day, aged 21,was also killed in the crash.
