Family history

Frank Hallam was born in 1898 at Whiteborough, Nottinghamshire, he was the son of Arthur a brick maker and coke burner and Agnes Hallam née Dawson of Freda Cottages, Teversall.

His father Arthur was born in 1853 at Hockerton, Nottinghamshire, his mother Agnes Dawson was born in 1860 at Duckmanton, Derbyshire, they were married on 20th July 1891 at St Mary’s Church, Sutton cum Duckmanton, Scarsdale, Derbyshire, they went on to have 3 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at Freda Cottages, Teversall. Arthur 58 yrs is a brick maker/coke burner, he is living with his wife Agnes 51 yrs and their children, Harry 18 years a bricklayers apprentice Gertrude Margaret 16 yrs on home duties and Frank 12 yrs a scholar.

Military history

Private Frank Hallam enlisted at Mansfield, he served with the 4th battalion, Worcestershire Regiment, he was killed in action on 29th May 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
