William died of wounds on 18th June 1916 whilst serving with the Sherwood Foresters.
William and Ethel had 2 other children, William born in 1912 and Ethel Maria born 16/5/1916 but both died when they were only a few months old.
Thomas was baptised at All Saints Church, Hucknall/Huthwaite on 2nd November 1913.

Military history

The 4th Bn was part of the B.E.F and were evacuated through Dunkirk. The cemetery at Caestre has 20 WW2 graves and of those 7 are Royal Sussex men and they died either on the 27 or the 28th May 1940.
