Son of Harry and ary Ann Baggaley, of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Harry had served with the Grenadier Guards from 2/8/1917 to 31/3/1920.
Mary must have died prior ro 1924 has Harry married Lizzie A Brain in 1924.
Siblings: Grace born 1910, Harry born 1911 and Sydney born 1915.
At the time of the 1921 census, William was in West Hill House a children's home on Chesterfield Road South, Mansfield and Grace was in the Brigade of Guard's Home for Girls in London whilst Harry snr & Harry jnr where living with relatives at 17 Belmont Terrace Mansfield.
Harry and Lizzie had 2 sons, Frank in 1926 and Gordon in 1929.

Military history

170 Tunnelling Company left England in January 1940 to excavate a bomb-proof HQ in Northern France but with the fall of France they were evacuated.
On CWGC site William's date of death is given has between 23/5 and 25/5/1940 so killed in action during the evacuation at Dunkirk.
