He was the son of Robert and Ellen Corbett of 'Kenmere', Portland Road, Hucknall, Nottinghamshire.
Military history
Corbett's battalion (the "Steelbacks") was heavily engaged in confronting the German advance while defending the withdrawal of the main British Expeditionary Force (BEF). By 19 May 1940, the battalion was rapidly falling back toward Arras under relentless aerial attacks and tank pressure. He lost his life trying to keep an escape corridor open.
