Enlisted in February 1940 into the Sherwood Foresters and then transferred to a special company of signallers.

Their only son Jack at the early age of 23.
Employed by Messrs Montegue Burton Ltd. Initially worked at the Market Place store (Mansfield) then at Nottingham and Retford.
Joined the Army in February 1940 (Sherwood Foresters) and transferred to a special company of signallers.
He was taken ill with appendicitis and pritontitis and passed away at Derby Royal Infirmary on Saturday after an operation.

Montague Burton was a gentleman outfitters and eventually became "Burton's".
