Military history

The 2/5th bn was mobolised in 1939 and was part of the 46th Division in France. They were evacuated from Dunkirk after the fall of France. 55 men from this battalion died between 10th May and 1st June 1940. One of whom was another Mansfield man, Leslie Williams who was buried in the same grave as Philip.
