
Harry Hurst
In 1921 he was a pony driver/coal miner aged 16 along with his brothers James aged 15 and Wilfred aged 14. They were employed at Rufford Colliery but all 3 were on strike.
In 1939 Harry was a builder's labourer.

Son of Harry and Maria Hurst of 9 Sanders Avenue, Mansfield.
Siblings: Lily (1902), Minnie (1903), James (1906), Wilfred (1907), William (1909),
Nellie (1910), George (1911), Dorothy (1915), Emma (1917) and Reginald (1919).
He married Constance Florence Hallam in 1928. They had Doreen in 1929, Colin in 1930, William in 1934 and Rene in 1938. In 1939 they were living at 102 Broxtowe Drive Mansfield.
The Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps were formed on 17th October 1939 and sent to France has part of the British Expeditionary Force. The Germans invaded France and the Low Countries on the 10th May 1940 after months of a phoney war. On CWGC site Harry's death is stated as occuring between 10/5 and 1/6 he would have died during the invasion and the retreat to Dunkirk.
