William Parsons was born in 1897 at Nottingham, he was the son Thomas Parsons a coal miner hewer and Alice Parsons née Dance of 36, Salisbury Street, Radford, Nottingham
His father Thomas was born in 1859 at Radford, he died on 22nd Febuary 1918 he was 59 yrs old, his mother Alice Dance was born in 1864 at Radford, they were married C1885 they went on to have 9 children sadly 2 were to die in infancy or early childhood,
In the 1911 census the family are living at 1 Abbey Buildings, Ilkeston Road, Old Radford, Nottingham, Thomas 52 yrs a a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Alice 46 yrs and their 6 children, Frederick 24 yrs a coal miner hewer, Alice 19 yrs a blouse machinist, Harold 15 yrs a shop assistant, William 14yrs a sand paperer for a toy manufacturer, Albert 12 yrs a scholar and Agnes 6 yrs old.
William was the husband of Elizabeth Gertrude Spick (born 15th February 1898 at Breaston, Derbyshire, they were married on 16th June 1917 at All Souls Church,Radford, they lived at 5, Holland Street, Radford. they had a son William Henry Spick born 7th December 1917.
Commencing 23rd December 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week
Private William Parsons enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1/5th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 3rd June 1918. He is buried in Fouquieries Churchyard Extension, Grave Reference: III D 1
