He was the son of Arthur Herbert Anthony (a retired policeman) and Ethel Anthony (nee Wardle) of 291, Coppice Road, Arnold, Nottinghamshire.
Birth of Arthur J Anthony registered Basford 1920.
In 1921 Geoffrey Anthony was living with his parents at 8 Provident Place, Spout Lane, Arnold. In 1939 Arthur J, as he was listed, was living with his parents and a younger sister at 291 Coppice Road, Arnold.
22 Sqdn RAFVR Arthur Anthony was killed aboard Beaufort N1081 along with Flying Officer F M Boycott, Pilot Officer S A Taylor and Sergeant G W R Nesbitt: missing believed killed; aircraft failed to return from an operation to attack shipping. It is assumed an unidentified SOS appeal was from this aircraft after being shot down by an Me110.
