Family history

Stanley Hobson was born in 1899 at West Bridgford, Nottingham, he wasthe son of William a brown lace agent and Eliza Annie Disney, of 27 Melton Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham.

His father William was born in 1865 at Radford, his mother Eliza Annie Disney was born in 1865 at Kirk Hallam, they were married in 1888 at Nottingham, they had 7 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 27 Melton Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, William 46 yrs is a brown lace agent, he is living with his wife Eliza Annie 46 yrs and their children Percy William 20 yrs a lace warehouseman, Frank 19 yrs 19 yrs an insurance clerk, Stanley 11 yrs a scholar, Charlie 7 yrs and Eric 6 yrs of age.

Military history

Private Stanley Hobson enlisted at Nottingham he was underage, he served with the 11th battalion The Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment), he was killed in action on 10th April 1918, having no known grave his name is commemrated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
