Frederick Mason Beecroft was born in 1891 at Caythorpe, Nottinghamshire Frederick was one of three sons (Frederick, Harry and Percy) and one daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Beecroft née Shaclock .
His father Frederick was born in 1861 at Lambley, Nottinghamshire, his mother Elizabeth was born in 1861 at Swanwick, Derbyshire, they were married on 22nd May 1888 in St Ann's, Nottingham,
In 1901 the family were living on Town Street, Lambley but by 1911 they had moved to Priory Cottage in Gedling Frederick 50 yrs is a market gardener he is living with his wife Elizabeth 50 yrs and their children, Henry 21 yrs a coal miner hewer, Frederick Mason 19 yrs a picture framer, Edith Annie16 yrs a sewing machinist, and William Percival 14 yrs
In 1915 at Nottingham he married Ada Emery,(born 7th June 1890) and her address was given as 76, Salisbury St., Nottingham on the CWWG website.
Commencing 2nd July 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of13 shillings and 9 pence a week.
Private Frederick Mason Beecroft enlisted at Mill Hill, Middlesex whilst residing at Hornsey, Middlesex. he served in the 12th Battalion of the Middlesex Regiment according to the CWWG but the Gedling War Memorial states 1st Battalion. He is buried in the Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuille, France. He was eligible for the Victory and British War medals.
Nottingham Post notice (abridged) 29 September 1917: 'Beecroft. Killed in action, Private Frederick Beecroft, Middlesex Regiment, age 26, husband of Ada Beecroft (nee Emery). Son of Frederick Beecroft of Gedling, age 25. Father, sister, brothers Harry, Percy.'
