William James Lunn was born in 1890 at Ilkeston, he was baptised on 26th August 1890 at Ilkeston, he was the son of Benjamin a lace maker and Sarah Ann Lunn née Robinson and the brother of John, Percy, George Thomas, May, Henry and Richard Lunn.
His father Benjamin was born in 1865 at Brownhills, Staffordshire, his mother Sarah Ann Robinson was born in 1868 at Nottingham, they were married in 1885 at Nottingham, they went on to have 7 children,
In the 1911 census the family lived at 378 Berridge Road Nottingham. Benjamin 46 yrs is a lace maker, he is living with his wife Sarah Ann 43 yrs and their children, William James 20 yrs a coal miner, John 18 yrs a dairyman, Percy 16 yrs assisting in his father business, George Thomas 15 yrs a printing feeder, Mary 12 yrs a scholar, Henry 10 yrs and Michael 8 yrs of age.
William James was the husband of Agnes Eliabeth Adams (born 6th August 1890 at Aston, Staffordshire,) they were married in 1912 at Nottingham, they lived at 16 Middleton Street, Radford, they had two children, William Percy born 3rd October 1913, and Benjamin Walter born 29th February 1916.
Commencing 22nd October 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week.
His widow was living at 8 Eckington Terrace Glapton Road Nottinghamat the time of Williams death.
Private William James Lunn enlisted at Nottingham, he served with 6th battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry he died of wounds on 11th April 1917 and is buried at Walincourt Halte British Cemetery, Saulty, France.
