Frederick Comley was born in 1889 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 3rd February 1887 at St Stephens Church, Sneinton, Nottingham, he was the son of the late Fred a fish monger and Sarah Comley néé Hutchinson, and the brother of Alice Comley.

His father Fred was born in 1860at Cropwell Bishop, he died in 1900 at Preswick, Lancashire he was 40 yrs old, his mother Sarah Huthcinson was born in 1861 at Nottinghamshire, they were married on 3rd August 1879 at St Ann's, Nottingham

In 1891 they lived at 12 Upper Parliament Street Nottingham.

By 1901 the family are living at 15 Goulden Street, Manchester Sarah Comle head a widow 40 yrs is living with her children, Alice 17 yrs a french polisher and Fred 12 yrs a scholar,

Military history

Private Fred Comley enlisted at Liverpool whilst residing at Liverpool, he served with the 17th battalion The King's Liverpool Regiment, he was killed in action on 28th April 1917, he is buried at Cherisy Road East Cemetery Heninel, France.
